Mr. Tuncay ARTUN, born in 1949, was appointed as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Istanbul Stock Exchange on April 5, 1994. On May 16, 1995 Mr. Artun was elected as the President of the “ Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges” (FEAS) initiated by the Istanbul Stock Exchange. Mr. Artun obtained a degree in economics and finance from the Political Sciences Faculty of Ankara University. He served as Banks' Sworn Auditor in the Finance Ministry for many years. In 1980, he established the securities department of Yapi Kredi Bankasi, one of the largest and oldest privately-owned commmercial banks in Turkey. He also assumed diverse functions such as Deputy General Manager in charge of deposit accounts, automation, inspection, budget and planning and personnel departments in the same bank between 1980-1984. In 1986, he represented the brokerage houses in the first Executive Council of the Istanbul Stock Exchange. Subsequently, he headed the Disciplinary Committee of the Istanbul Stock Exchange. Mr. Artun has authored six books and over 200 essays, articles and research papers on the Turkish economy, banking system, capital markets, foreign exchange and interest rate policies as well as inflation.
