


400 schools, 625.000 students in 10 years
In 1998, İMKB set up the İMKB Education Fund with its own resources within the scope of "Substantial Support for National Education Project”. Ever since then, the Fund has been grown and supplies a continuous flow of resource to education.
TRY 44 million (TRY 44,000,000.-) was allocated from the İMKB Education Fund for the first time under the framework of the "Eight-year Compulsory Primary Education" campaign with the Protocol No.1 dated September 5, 1998, thereby, 24 boarding schools and 22 day schools, i.e. 46 schools were built in 36 counties of 32 provinces, offering educational opportunities to a sum of 26,500 students of which 12,000 are boarding students.
With the Protocol No. II dated June 29, 2000 and March 19, 2002, TRY 220 million (TRY 220,000,000) was allocated and 74 high schools, mostly including vocational high schools, and 12 primary schools were built in 80 counties of 42 provinces, offering educational opportunities to 42,000 students.
With the Protocol No. III dated July 21, 2003, TRY 444 million (TRY 444,000,000) was allocated, 133 schools were built in 83 counties of 47 provinces, offering educational opportunities to 80,764 students.
With the Protocols No. IV and V dated August 13, 2005 and the supplementary protocol dated 13.12.2007, TRY 221 million (TRY 221,000,000) was allocated. Within this scope, the construction of 56 schools is underway in 47 counties of 32 provinces, and upon completion of the project, 29,760 students will be accomodated.
With the last Protocol dated January 18, 2008, TRY 300 million (TRY 300,000,000) was allocated to build 79 schools, providing educational opportunities for 42,000 students.
